Lilo & Stitch 2002
I never got around to seeing this movie when it came out. It seems like I remember it getting kind of mixed reviews. However today it seems like a lot of people think highly of it, so I wound up getting the Blu-ray from Disney Movie Club. The Blu-ray includes a poorly reviewed sequel as well, but no extras unfortunately. The movie was better than I expected, but still not one of Disney’s best efforts. The characters are good, but Stitch’s transformation from evil to good is a little bumpy, being expected to behave early, but also seeming unreceptive to his new family despite their kindness towards him. The story with the aliens pursuing Stitch is funny, but mostly silly. Still there are some good complex human characters and a nice message about family that isn’t laid on too thick, but is still strong. Things move quickly and the movie isn’t that long so it should keep anyone’s attention. I don’t know when or if I will watch the sequel.
