The Town 2010
Ben Affleck followed up Gone Baby Gone with this movie about bank robbers in the Charlestown area of Boston, portraying robbing banks as a cottage industry there. The film follows a gang through a series of capers of amazing complexity and audacity while an FBI agent is hot on their trail. The central character, played by Affleck, is developed well as a guy making some of the same mistakes as his father and looking for a way out of robbing banks, a career he knows will end in jail or an early death. It is interesting watching the different capers with some car chases, kind of similar to The Italian Job, but the human story is good as well. And you can’t help but hope the FBI will eventually stop these guys. I like that there are protagonists on both sides of the law.
