The Cell 2000
was very impressed in the previews by the visual effects and design. I figured with those visuals and solid cast with Jennifer Lopez, Vince Vaughn, and Vincent D'nofirio and some good reviews that this would be good. And it is good as a science fiction movie. The visuals are very spectacular (though they showed all of the coolest stuff in the previews) and there are some neat concepts that are already being ripped off by TV shows. But the movie itself is a detective movie, much like Silence of the Lambs, which it seems to get compared to a lot, and that is where it fails. We spend a long time in the set up and the way everything is solved is very disappointing at best. What can you expect when the villain spends most of the movie comatose? So overall the movie is a bit of a dud, but still entertaining and very visual.
I can give this a B+ (A for visuals, B- for plot)
