- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, A-, little plot, but great characters and humor
- The Shape of Water, A-, offbeat, but original, with high production values
- Wind River, A-, well made procedural in a bleak setting
- Thor: Ragnarok, A-, surprisingly funny and entertaining action movie
- Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, A-, great concept and cast make for a fun movie
- Phantom Thread, A-, beautifully made movie, but kind of odd
- Lady Bird, B+, great characters and acting, conventional story
- Get Out, B+, a lot more going on than just a horror movie
- The Current War, B+, well made, but dry, look at 1890's tech titans
- Molly's Game, B+, zippy writing, sharp acting, lackluster story
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi, B+, unconventional but still good chapter in the saga
- Making the Grade, B+, nice documentary about learning piano in Ireland
- Battle of the Sexes, B+, personal story still relevant to today
- The Big Sick, B+, funny and cute with some strong characters
- Blade Runner 2049, B+, great looking but takes a while to get moving
- Dunkirk, B+, slow and confusing but visually impressive
- Baby Driver, B+, well-made gangster car chase movie
- Wonder Woman, B+, well made origin story of a super woman
- Darkest Hour, B+, good look at one month of Winston Churchill
- The Greatest Showman, B+, enjoyable musical with a great cast
- Coco, B, beautifully drawn with a nice story, but not great
- The Post, B, ho hum story about the newspaper business
- Beauty and the Beast, B, mostly the same movie, but with more stuff
- Murder on the Orient Express, B, great cast, but the mystery is too well known
- Spider-Man: Homecoming, B, Avengers integration does more harm than good
- I, Tonya, B, hard to make more out of this tabloid story
- Downsizing, B, neat concept, explored thoroughly, but falls flat
- John Wick: Chapter 2, B-, technically better, but the plot is disappointing
- Logan Lucky, B-, redneck caper movie is fun, but flat
- Thoroughbreds, C+, dark movie with cute, but unlikeable characters
- Alien: Covenant, C+, some neat concepts, some of the same old stuff
- Professor Marston and the Wonder Women, C+, weak movie about the creators of a superhero
- The Lego Batman Movie, C+, cute, but ultimately just the same Batman
- The Florida Project, C+, depressing movie about bad people in a bad life
- Cars 3, C, not my favorite series, so so story
- Ghost in the Shell, C, somewhat derivative cyberpunk robot cop story
- Ingrid Goes West, C-, sad movie about a mentally ill girl
- The Breadwinner, C-, brutal and depressing cartoon about Afghanistan
