Batman: Bad Blood 2016
This DC animated movie is part of a story arc that has mostly been about Batman and a new Robin, Damien, who is Batman’s son. At the beginning of the movie, Batman disappears and is assumed dead. Several Batman proteges fill the void in his absence while also trying to find out if he is still alive. Old Robin and New Robin are both in it along with Batwoman and others. It is a reasonably good story, building on some things from the earlier movies. They throw a lot of characters into the mix. Some are comic book regulars and some are quickly killed off. As always, the major characters have to continue coming back again and again because the comics never stop. It seemed like there were an awful lot of fights and either they aren’t as impressive as past ones or I am just getting used to fights in this style of animation, but I thought they could have a few less. Although they show a little of the personal life of the characters, there isn’t much emotional depth going on, so I feel like the writing could be improved.
