Black Widow 2021
I am glad to see the return of Marvel movies after Black Widow was delayed for over a year due to Covid. The events of this movie happen primarily just after Captain America: Civil War (no need to re-watch that to see this), and don’t involve any of the other Avengers. That’s fine with me, but this also has almost nothing to do with the rest of the Avengers story arc and introduces new characters and bad guys. It still links into what is coming, especially a post credits scene. This movie has a little more intrigue than most Marvel movies, but with a single story line seems a little padded, with a fair amount of exposition about Black Widow’s early days. It’s not overly heavy, but there isn’t a huge amount of meat, just a few twists and turns and some good action scenes. I went in pretty unspoiled, though I had seen some previews, and I would definitely recommend anyone stay away from spoilers, especially due to the thin plot. The core cast are good and are fun to watch, plus it is interesting to see Natasha Romanoff’s background, so it is worth watching, but not the best of Marvel movies.
