The Order 2024
This movie got good reviews and seemed like something I would like, but I heard very little about it otherwise. I caught it at the last showing before it left my local theater and I am glad I did. I do not remember anything about the events of this movie which came to a head in 1984, so it was a complete surprise. Jude Law plays a veteran FBI agent assigned a quiet little job in Idaho after a career of pursuing mobsters in New York City. He channels Michael Shannon with a gruff, kind of crazy portrayal. Pretty soon he is caught up in a very ambitious white supremecist plot that involves murders, bombings and bank robberies in an attempt to fund a racist revolution. We also see a lot of that white supremecist and how he is using the standard rhetoric to go beyond talking and focus on action. It is an impressive crime movie that seems like it should be a work of fiction and certainly liberties were taken to make the movie more exciting. Even though the events of the movie happened 40 years ago, this movement still has plenty of followers. There are some great action scenes and acting performances seem solid, if maybe there are few too many movie clichés for critics to go crazy for it.
