The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep 2008
I got a digital copy of this movie for free from Sony when they shut down their online movie store. I had heard of the movie and it got pretty good reviews, making it one of the better choices available from a handful of films Sony offered. With the film now eleven years old, the titular sea monster isn’t the greatest CGI work, with almost textureless skin and artificial movements. There are some good surround sound moments. The movie itself is fine, one of many movies about a kid and his magical pet. There are not a lot of surprises, but everything is executed fairly well with good acting and a plot that moves along fairly well. Even the bad guys who always want to take the pet away and/or kill it aren’t horrible and some of them come around. This is a nice movie to take kids to see, but parent aren’t going to get much out of it other than a few warm fuzzies at the nice story. The digital copy I got didn’t seem to have any extras, at least on Vudu.
