Despicable Me 2010
This movie franchise has become pretty big over the last few years, but somehow I never saw the first one. Reviews weren’t that great, but I was able to record it and watch last year. I did not write a review at that time and even though I wasn’t that crazy about it, for some reason I bought the Blu-ray recently (mostly because it included a digital version and came in a steelbook case). I watched it again and once again was not that crazy about it. I don’t like the main character, Gru, with Russian-ish accent by Steve Carrell. And his rival, Vector, is even more obnoxious. The minions are pretty funny, but I think the little girls are what gives the movie heart. As I watched it the second time, I kept stopping it and putting it aside just like I did the first time because I just didn’t care about the evil guy, but by the end I was caught up in it again. I don’t feel any need to watch the second (which didn’t get good reviews) or the third (which improved a little). Oh well.
