How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World 2019

A-

This has been a surprisingly good series and I was happy to see a third movie was coming out. This time I wanted to make sure I saw it in 3D as intended since I had to settle for 2D on home video with the others. With so much flying, the movie really benefits from 3D. By this time most of the characters are well known as is the constant danger that men pose to dragons. While a lot of the humor in this movie doesn’t necessarily work, particularly in regard to the young viking sidekicks, the relationships between the main character, Hiccup, and his dragon, girlfriend, and family, are very important with some good emotional payoffs. Plus the visuals are great and the story is decent as well with some strong lessons. Always intended as a trilogy, things are wrapped up nicely by the end of this movie. While not everything works in the movie, and also being a little emotionally manipulative, they have done another very good job with this movie. I gave the other two movies an A- each, so that seems appropriate as well from this equally good movie.
