Spider-Man: Far From Home 2019
Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood, but this latest version of Spider-Man fell very flat for me. The side characters are really corny and lame and much of the humor didn’t work. You always have to suspend belief with superhero movies, but the science and technology here is just silly: both extremely powerful and also incredibly dumb. Meanwhile Spider-Man would just rather not save the world because there is a girl he likes. Is he really a hero if he is that selfish? The whole movie just seems poorly written with some terrible acting. It is very hard to be funny and I think they wanted to add a lot of humor like in Thor or Guardians of the Galaxy, but this stuff is more like a made for TV Marvel movie (though if you throw enough at the wall, some of it will stick, so there were a couple of laughs). I was a little disappointed with Spider-Man Homecoming, but this sequel doesn’t even measure up to that one. I’m giving this one a C-, which is probably a little generous.
