Encanto 2021
I am always happy to go see a new Disney or Pixar movie. Encanto has gotten decent, though not specatacular reviews. There are a lot of songs in the movie, but Lin-Manuel Miranda is probably spreading himself a little thin and while these are good songs, it didn’t seem like there were any real standouts. There is a big complicated story about a magical family and their magical house. The family was maybe too big and their magical powers seemed a little underwhelming for the most part. Still there are some nice themes that come into play with some emotional payoff. I had hoped that the capybara was going to have a bigger part, but the giant rodent barely makes an appearance. There was an animated short at the beginning about raccoons that was good, but also not great.
