The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare 2024

B+

This movie isn't getting great reviews, but it is still a fun shoot 'em up war movie. It concerns the exploits of a small group of British commandos off the coast of Africa in 1942. It is based on a true story in that everything boring about the movie is true, while everything interesting is made up. But it is clear almost from the start that this is so spectacular that there is no way it is true. Still, if you like watching the good guys kill tons of Nazis, you will have a good time. There isn't any character development or even that many twists and turns. Directed by Guy Ritchie, it is more like a very violent heist movie. I have gotten tired of the John Wick movies and their over-the-top violence, but this is maybe less graphic and sinister, so I felt like it was okay. It is also pretty light, with a lot of funny lines or situations. You will not remember much about this movie the next day, but it is fun enough to watch.
